ern and central Chile (Soares and de Carvalho 2005). Additionally, southern Chile
was covered with ice during the last glacial age, imposing limitations on biotic ex-
pansions, and some distributional patterns may be due to vicariance and others to
geodispersal after the retreat of the ice sheets and the reestablishment of forests.
