) If you stay in this motel-style digs (it's in a nice, peaceful location east of town),
go for an executive room - away from the noise of the bar and with all the hotel amenities
you could want like armoires and TVs. Standard rooms, on the other hand, are dingy,
overpriced and next to a noisy bar.

museum, Mimosa is clean and friendly and has a decent restaurant and pleasant bar.
Rooms are large, scrupulously clean and well catered for with mozzie nets, DSTVs, en
suites, bureaus and fans. It's in a convenient location in the centre of town, off M'Mbelwa
Rd.

Flame Tree Campsite $
( 0999-511423; campsite per person MK700; ) Run by Maggie, the owner of Flame
Tree Guesthouse, this lovely campsite, 6km south of town on the M1, sits in manicured
gardens spilling over with wild fruit trees and is popular with campervans and campers.
There are two shower and toilet blocks and an on-site mechanic. At the time of research
there was no cafe or shop.
