Air
If you're buying a ticket, it's worth trying an agent first as they offer a wider range of op-
tions, charge the same rates as the airlines and sometimes have special deals. Air Malawi,
KLM & Kenya Airways and South African airways have offices in Lilongwe.

Bus
AXA City Trouper and commuter buses leave from the main bus station where you'll find
the AXA ticket office, though you can also buy tickets at Postdotnet inside the City Centre
Peoples Supermarket, Nico Shopping Centre and at Crossroads Complex.
AXA executive coaches depart from outside the City Centre Peoples Supermarket be-
fore stopping at the immigration office on Murray Rd and making their way to Blantyre.
An executive ticket between the two cities costs MK6000.
Destinations from the main bus station include Mzuzu (MK3500, five hours), Blantyre
(MK2000, four hours), Kasungu (MK1500, two hours), Nkhata Bay (MK3500, five
hours) and Dedza (MK1300, one hour).
A number of other bus companies, including Coachline and Zimatha, also leave from
the main bus station at similar rates and times. Super Sink buses depart from the Engen
Petrol Station at 6.30pm to Mzuzu (MK2000, six hours) and at 6.30pm to Songwe
(MK5000).
Long-distance minibuses depart from behind the bus station to nearby destinations such
as Zomba (MK2500, four to five hours), Dedza (MK1000, 45 minutes to one hour), the
Zambian border (MK1500, two hours), Ntchisi (MK1200, 2½ hours), Mangochi
(MK2500, 4½ hours), Limbe (MK1900, three to four hours), and Nkhotakota (MK1800,
three hours).

leaves from the Total petrol station in Old Town on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and
Sunday at 6am, arriving in Jo'burg at 6am the following day (one way MK29,500).
