camp is beautifully situated on a large dambo. Four thatch and two Meru-style safari tents
are very comfortably furnished. This area, once depleted of wildlife, has seen its return,
including sables, roans, kudus, hartebeests, wildbeests, cheetahs and several lions, after
conservation work done by this camp in conjunction with ZAWA and the Nature Con-
servancy. It is accessed from the Dundumwezi Gate or is a two-hour drive south from
Lake Itezhi-Tezhi.

place has large, bland chalets in a rocky setting overlooking beautiful Lake Itezhi-Tezhi.

CAMPGROUND, CHALET
Getting There & Away
Some guests of the top-end lodges/camps fly in on chartered planes (this includes all
guests of Wilderness Safari properties in the northern part of the park).
For drivers, the main route is along the road between Lusaka and Mongu. It's about
200km from Lusaka to Nalusanga Gate, and then 30km west of Nalusanga Gate a road
leads southwest towards Lake Itezhi-Tezhi. The road is in very bad condition, with a small
part graded only. The rest is terrible - it's only accessible by a 4WD with high clearance.
Note the tsetse flies are bad down here, too - so air-con is a big comfort. Just past
Itezhitezhi village is Musa Gate, from where the road crosses Lake Itezhi-Tezhi to the
New Kalala Camp.
