Tying and Sealing Knots
There are two main ways to tie knots in conductive thread. The
first way is to use your fingers to wrap two threads together in a
square knot. But if you're finishing a single trace, there's only
the thread on the needle and no second tail to tie to, so you
must use the needle to pierce through a previous stitch (or
group of stitches, as in the case of a component junction)
( Figure 4-8 ). Pull the needle and thread almost all the way
through, then bring the needle through the loop that was cre-
ated before pulling the thread taut ( Figure 4-9 ). Repeat this pro-
cess twice more, and leave a long tail coming out from the knot.
If you trim the tail short now, all your knots will come undone
because the thread is so springy! You've got to seal the knot to
make it permanent.
