In-Depth Information
Some of the better-known estates on the Shunyi side of the river include: EuroVillage,
Yosemite, River Garden ( www.rivergarden-villa.com ) , Le Leman Lake, Capital Paradise,
Gahood Villas, Dragon Bay Villas, and Rose & Ginkgo. On the south side of Wenyu
river in Chaoyang there is Lane Bridge, Grand Hills, the traditional Chinese-style Cathay
View ( www.cathayview.cn ), Quanfa Garden, Orchid Garden and Beijing Riviera
( www.bjriviera.com ) . Prices vary greatly, obviously, depending on the specifications of the
home, but in this area you're roughly looking at RMB17,000-26,000 (US$2,734-4,181) per
month for apartments and RMB20,000-110,000 per month (US$3,216-17,690) for villas.
Quanfa Garden, Capital Paradise, and Gahood Villas tend to sit at the cheaper end of this
scale, while Yosemite, Beijing Riviera, and Grand Hills balance it at the other end.

RELIGIOUS SERVICES
Continuing your religious practice will be relatively easy. The Capital Community Church
(CCC, www.capitalcommunitychurch.net ) represents the Protestant faith and meets at the
Beijing Arts Exhibition Center on Sundays at 10am. You'll find it off Shunhuang Lu just
behind the BD Flower Market, at the corner of Jingmi. For added convenience, the CCC
has a shuttle bus that makes a run to many of the villa compounds before and after church.
In addition to Sunday services, they have children's church and small groups throughout
the week. Have scones, tea, or coffee after service at the English Tearoom right next door.
Catholic organization Our Lady of China Beijing offers religion classes for adults and
children, fellowship groups, charity outreach services, and Mass in various places in the
city, including in Shunyi at 5pm on Saturdays. All Masses are in English and take place in
the same location as the CCC services. For full details, contact olcbjparish@aol.com .
Due to local laws, you are required to have your passport on you to attend services for
either group.
SOCIALIZING AND NETWORKING
Unlike the CBD, Shunyi doesn't have many organized social groups, particularly those tar-
geting networking of the business kind. A lot of socializing is done via school activities
that naturally bring people together and through parent organizations associated with the
schools.
