In-Depth Information

Hi Bernie,
How are things on the road? What an incredible journey for
you all, to experience all those countries. Hope you can get the
vans all the way to Punta (and Pat, of course!). I am sure you
have pondered Pat's progress to Punta but can you please give
some thought and forward planning to ensure his timely arrival
in Punta Arenas on December 29 latest. It appears as though
he won't be able to run all the way, so will you drive or fly the
remainder? If you fly, it's a very busy time of the season for flights
into Punta so you will need to topic well in advance. If you drive
in, then be sure that the route is passable as this cannot always
be guaranteed in South America. I look forward to seeing you
all in Punta.
Kind regards,
Eric

Hi Eric,
We have been running off-road to pull back some time and have
had some success so far. Pat's main concern with leaving to go to
the pole and come back to run the mainland is that if the flight
is delayed, his continuous record is dead. He can't afford one day
off. With this in mind, would ALE pick Pat up if he finished early?
Also, if weather is a problem, could he get to a point where he
could be guaranteed a flight out? This is his main worry with the
current departure scenario. We are still looking for every distance
saving to make the finish at Punta Arenas. Thanks for your help.
Kind regards,
Bernie

Hi Bernie,
Well done with the off-road plan. There is nothing we can do
to predict flight delays; it is one of the great (or not so great)
