My crew and I were honoured to be a part of the evening, not just to
chat to some fellow Aussies, but also to spread the word about the life-
changing work that the International Red Cross does every day and to
highlight our own mission. Today I fired off emails to the executives I
met, saying that any financial support they could give me to pay for
the mounting costs would be greatly appreciated.

Feeling good today. I've just had a Skype catch-up with Mum for her
79th birthday. After I'd wished her many happy returns, up on the
screen came all the family who were there with her, sending their love
and best wishes to me. Mum broke her wrist a few months ago, but it's
mended well. She has made me a Christmas pudding and is saving it
for my return. No pudding will ever taste so wonderful.
This morning before we left Lima we had breakfast with the offi-
cials of the Peruvian Red Cross. They told us about the good work they
