Betzhold Road to the north and WIS 13 take in many of Bayfield's orchards and 500-foot
lake views and provide a cool breeze the whole way.
The easiest trail otherwise is the gorgeous
Iron Bridge Trail,
winding up into the hills
from the north end of Broad Street, offering a superlative view from a wooden bridge and
landscaped terraces.
Tours
are myriad to the Apostle Islands.
The coolest thing to do in Bayfield in winter is to go on a dog sled tour, either as a day

You can go wreck-diving near the islands. There are 25 established hulls littering the
lakebottom;severalaroundSand,Long,andStocktonIslandsarepopular.The

Camping is a hodgepodge of public and private—and pretty tough to get to on week-
ends,soarriveearly.AtLittleSandBayofthemainlandunitoftheApostleIslandsNational
you'll find a campground. Between Washburn and the Red Cliff Indian Reservation, you'll
find a dozen campgrounds.
Accommodations
Bayfield doesn't come cheap after April. A multi-night minimum stay is often necessary in
peak periods, particularly on weekends.
$75-105) is a clean and comfy place with conscientious owners; it has unheard-of reason-
able prices for these parts. Most rooms have lovely views, and a trail leads to town. Off-
season rates are a steal. Some units have kitchenettes.
