In-Depth Information
Fishing
Fond du Lac is the southernmost access point for fishing on Lake Winnebago, the most
popular fishing lake in the state. You've got to be here during sturgeon season.
ACCOMMODATIONS
During Oshkosh's EAA AirVenture, you'll pay at least double these rates.
Cheapest on the west side is the Days Inn (107 N. Pioneer Rd., 920/923-6790, from
$60), featuring a heated pool and a refreshing sense of on-the-ball-ness.
Microtel Inn and Suites (649 W. Johnson St./WIS 23, 920/929-4000 or 888/771-7171,
$65) has a health club, whirlpool, and more.
There's only one option near the central area, the full-service Ramada Retlaw Plaza
Hotel (1 N. Main St., 920/923-3000 or 800/274-1712, $129). Some have opined it's a bit
dated, but it's fine at this price. It has an indoor pool, whirlpool, lounge, restaurant, health
club, covered parking, and some suites. And, according to a few visitors, some possibly
paranormal activity.

Supper Clubs and Fish Fries
If it's steak you want, head for Sebastian's Steakhouse (770 S. Main St., 920/922-3333,

the excellent value.

dinner Tues.-Sun., $12-45) serves famous fish fries and rib-sticking supper club fare. If
nothing else, come for the view of the lakeā€”the place is 30 feet from the eastern shoreline.
It's in little Pipe; take U.S. 151 east to Highway W and then west.
