PaleohoraΠαλαιόχωρα
POP 2200
Appealing, laid-back and full of character, Paleohora (pal-ee- oh -hor-a) lies on a narrow
peninsula flanked by a long, curving tamarisk-shaded sandy beach (Pahia Ammos) and a
pebbly beach (Halikia). Shallow waters and general quietude also make the resort a good
choice for families with small children. The most picturesque part of Paleohora is the
maze of narrow streets around the castle. Tavernas spill out onto the pavement and occa-
sional cultural happenings, as well as Cretan and international music, inject a lively ambi-
ence. In spring and autumn, Paleohora attracts many walkers.
