WORTH A TRIP
MYRTOS BEACH
One of Greece's most breathtaking picture-perfect beaches is Myrtos , 8km south of
Assos along an exciting stretch of the west coast road. From a roadside viewing
area, admire the white sand and shimmering blue water set between tall limestone
cliffs far below. Reach the beach down a zigzagging road. The beach drops off
sharply, but once you're in the water it's heavenly. Think clichéd turquoise and
aqua water. And hordes in summer.

FiskardoΦισκάρδο
POP 230
Tiny, precious Fiskardo, 50km north of Argostoli, was the only Kefallonian village left
largely intact after the 1953 earthquake. Its fine Venetian buildings, framed by cypress-
mantled hills, have an authentic picturesque appeal and it's popular with well-heeled
yachting fans. The outstanding restaurants and chilled-out feel might entice you to stay a
while.
