In-Depth Information
Sami, 25km northeast of Argostoli and the main port of Kefallonia, has a waterside strip
loaded with tourist-oriented cafes, but beyond this it's an attractive town, nestled in a
bright bay and flanked by steep hills. There are several monasteries, ancient castle ruins,
walks and nearby beaches (such as
Antisamos Beach
) that are worth a trip.
Agia Evfy-
mia
on the north side of the bay makes for a quieter alternative. Nearby
Melissani
and
Drogarati
caves are rather overrated.
Activities
The tourist office offers brochures outlining
walks
through the area; one covers Sami and
Antisamos, another the trail from Agia Evfymia to Myrtos.
