Eating
In Gialos, eateries line the harbour; in Horio, they tend to be clustered at the top of Kali
Strata.
Gialos
Meraklis
SEAFOOD $
(mains €8-10; )
This magical backstreet taverna has Santorini-blue walls decked out
with vintage diving photos, antique mirrors and a menu straight from the table of Posei-
don. Feast on fresh octopus, sea bream, Symi shrimp and swordfish. The souvlakia,
meatballs and roast lamb are all exceptionally tasty. Why not try a mixed seafood dish
for two (€30)?
Manos Fish Restaurant
SEAFOOD $
(mains €8-10; )
Festooned in nets and nautical lanterns, its walls astir with lobsters in
tanks, Manos is arguably the best-loved seafood restaurant in the Dodecanese - certainly
it packs in more Hollywood demi-gods than a tin of sardines. Octopus cooked in wine,
mixed seafood saganaki, shark fillet, crab claws and sea snails are a few of its treasures.
