Boat
The only scheduled boat services are the regular daily Queenscliff-Sorrento Car & Passenger Ferries ( 03-5258
3244; www.searoad.com.au ; adult/child/car return from $20/16/112) between Queenscliff and Sorrento, and the Inter
Island Ferries ( 03-9585 5730; www.interislandferries.com.au ; adult/child/bike return $24/12/8) from Stony Point
on the Mornington Peninsula to French Island and Phillip Island.
Charter boats and cruises can get you around on the water in the Gippsland Lakes and Murray region.
Bus
Victoria's regional bus network V/Line ( 13 61 96; www.vline.com.au ) offers both a relatively cheap and reliable
service, though it can require planning if you intend to do more than straightforward city-to-city trips. The buses basic-
ally supplement the train services, so you'll often find yourself on a train and bus combination, changing services en
route. For getting between smaller country towns, a bus may well be the only public-transport option and it may not
even run daily. In some regions, private transport companies run bus services that often connect with V/Line trains and
buses.
