outstanding modern Greek taverna. Mezze including cured kingfish with apple, celery and
a lime dressing, and mains such as grilled baby snapper are sensational. Kosta, the host,
ran Kosta's in Lorne for 27 years before decamping to Aireys.

is decked out in retro furniture, motoring memorabilia and a classic-car display in its gar-
age. The malt shop has hot dogs, milkshakes and booze (happy hour 5.30pm to 6.30pm),
while the upstairs diner has uniformed waitresses serving burgers and wings, and views
over Painkalak Creek.

Aireys Pub

coastal pub is a survivor, twice burning to the ground, before closing its doors in 2011
only to be saved by a bunch of locals who chipped in to save it. Now it's better than ever,
with a fantastic kitchen, roaring fire, sprawling beer garden, live music and its very own
Aireys draught beer.

Fairhaven Surf Life Saving Club
( www.fairhavenslsc.org ; from 4pm daily Jan, Fri-Sun Feb-Easter) The newly rebuilt surf club runs a
bar and bistro from its commanding dune location overlooking Fairhaven beach; a glori-
