Almost too good to be true.
A location scout's dream, this self-catering villa perched on a hilltop offers million-dollar
views of Curieuse and Praslin's northern coastline. There's a second villa, a bit further
down the hill. OK, both are very modestly furnished, there's no air-con (and no wi-fi) and
you need wheels to stay here, but those are the only gripes. The property is secluded and
slightly hard to find, off the
very
steep road to Zimbabwe. The owner can arrange 4WD
rental (reckon on €40 per day) and evening meals (€15).

Finally, Anse Lazio
has produced a place to stay. The owners of the eponymous restaurant rent eight rooms in
two seperate buildings - the best ones occupy the modern house at the back. They're a bit
sterile, but the location is fantastic - you're a stone's throw from one of the most famous
beaches in the world. Alas, no sea views because of the foliage of takamaka trees.
