Chez Batista's
( 4366300; Anse Takamaka; mains Rs 170-400; lunch Tue-Sun) The impressive thatched canopy,
the sand floor and the endless turquoise bay that spreads out in front of you help you
switch to 'relax' mode. This is a great place for seafood, fish dishes or just a drink, but we
met some tourists who found the place touristy and overrated. The eclectic lunch buffet
(Rs 400) is a good option on Sunday. It's wise to book on weekends.

( 4371289; Anse à la Mouche; mains Rs 300-350; 4-9pm Mon-Sat; ) This appreciated, family-
run restaurant takes its cooking seriously. Its champion dishes include the blackened fish,
the grilled red snapper, plus the obligatory catch of the day. But everything is good here,
ranging from the steaks to the grilled pork chops. A few vegetarian options also grace the
menu. Eat alfresco near a huge anchor in the garden and enjoy the amazing sunsets over
the bay. There's wi-fi access (Rs 30 per hour).
