OFFLINE MAP
( 4378352; Port Glaud; mains Rs 180-270; noon-9pm) This venture overlooking the water was
being refurbished at the time of research. It should feature a nicely laid-out dining room
and an extensive menu.
Maria's Rock Cafeteria
OFFLINE MAP
( 4361812; Anse Gouvernement Rd, Anse Soleil; mains Rs 150-300; 10am-9pm Wed-Mon) Maria, the
Seychellois spouse of artist Antonio Filippin, runs this quirky restaurant beside her hus-
band's studio. The cavernous interior is discombobulating, with granite tabletops and con-
crete walls sprayed with paint. Food-wise, it majors on fish and meat dishes, grilled on a
metal plate. Skip the pancakes, which taste like plastic.
CAFETERIA €€
Anse Soleil Café

SEAFOOD, CHINESE €€€
( 4361700; Anse Soleil; mains Rs 200-350; noon-8pm) Everyone adores this unpretentious little
eatery ideally positioned right on the beach at Anse Soleil. The menu is short and concen-
trates on simply prepared seafood and various chop sueys served in generous portions.
Grilled bat (yes, fruit bat is a local delicacy) is also available. Digest all this over a drink
afterwards. Note that it doesn't take reservations and there are only a few tables - come at
noon sharp or after 1.30pm.
Chez Plume
OFFLINE MAP
FRENCH, SEAFOOD €€€
( 4355050; www.aubergeanseboileau.com ; Anse Boileau; mains Rs 190-300; dinner Mon-Sat) The grand-
daddy of West Coast dining, Chez Plume can still cut it. On top of fish specialities, it
serves a mix of adventurous dishes - terrine of fruit bat, anyone? - and innocuous French
classics. The decor is romantic, in an old-fashioned way.
Opera
OFFLINE MAP
( 4371171; www.opera-mahe.com ; Anse à la Mouche; mains Rs 230-350; 11am-8.30pm Tue-Sun) Across
the road from the beach (but no views to speak of), this modern eatery is an acceptable
plan B. The food is rated as 'average' by most visitors and service is sloooow.
SEAFOOD, INTERNATIONAL €€€
