Mourouk is luxury in a classy, understated style. The rooms are large and decorated with
cuts from old wooden pirogues and each room is flooded with natural light; most have
both indoor and outdoor showers. The beach here is good, which for most makes up for
the lack of a swimming pool.

Arguably
the finest address on Rodrigues, this stunning new place opened in late 2012. Supremely
comfortable, free-standing cabins are arrayed around a rocky headland that slopes down to
a good beach, and there's a blissful sense of isolation. They also have the aim of being
powered entirely by renewable energy, and the food is superb.

These attractive four- to six-
bed apartments are set in a scenic palm grove visited by chirping birds. The outside design
incorporates colourful Creole-inspired details while the interiors are much more modern -

Still going strong after 18 years in the biz, charming Cotton Bay is the island's oldest
hotel. The design scheme has a lovely Creole motif - floral trim and tropically inspired
prints adorn the rooms. Perks include a lovely pirogue-themed restaurant, outings on a
