The boutiquiest boutique resort on the island, 20° Sud has a cache of chic, plantation-
inspired rooms. Walls are lavished with generous coats of prim white paint; draped linen
and elegant dark-wood mouldings perfectly accent the surrounds. Palatial oak doors initi-
ate guests into the vine-draped public area, a lush palm grove with an inviting swimming
pool and a cosy lodge-style library. 20° Sud also operates a popular catamaran day trip to
Île Plate for snorkelling, sunbathing and an elegant barbecue feast in the stylishly half-
renovated ruins of the old Governor's House (nonguests can join in as well, although you
must book several days in advance as the trip is exceedingly popular).
