Easily one of the best value for money places on the island, this charm-
ing guesthouse is run by two friendly Québécois, Stéphane and André, who run their en-
clave of 'free spirits' with one mantra in mind: customer service. Rooms are simple and
tastefully decorated and the on-site restaurant offers up an inventive menu that has lured
in a faithful crowd of locals. To reach the guesthouse, turn left at the large elephant statue
(you can't miss it) when coming from Grand Baie.

Ocean Villas is recommended for its broad range of accommodation, from straightforward
hotel rooms to self-catering units for up to eight people and sleek honeymoon suites with
sunken baths. Facilities include an excellent pool plus a small strip of beach (with limited
watersports on offer), a restaurant and the love nest - a private house on the beach.

Highly recommended and extremely popular (book ahead), this small hotel
is set back from the coast in a quiet location just a short walk from the centre of town.
Sweet, simple, brightly coloured rooms and a charming pool area make this a great option.
There's wi-fi in the public areas.

rather elegant public areas here give the Verandah a sense of exclusivity unusual for the
price. The two pools, good facilities and a relatively recent refit of the rooms also help.
The beach is fine, but no great shakes, although the location is handy for town and there's
a full-service Seven Colours spa here to help with relaxation.
