On a quiet sidestreet off bul Vitosha, this attractively renovated townhouse has a wide
choice of rooms, some quite small, but it's good value for central Sofia. Some might find
the narrow wooden stairs awkward.

Attached to the Red House cultural centre, in an unusual Italianate
building partly designed by sculptor Andrei Nikolov, who lived here in the 1930s, this six-
room hotel is a unique place to stay. All rooms are individually decorated, though none
have private bathrooms and some are a bit basic.

live music, dance performances and more. Accommodation consists of a attractive,
brightly painted three- to eight-bed dorms as well as some airy private rooms, and there's
