month. Avoid slushy Bucharest and head instead for the mountains, where ski resorts
and winter sports are in full gear.
WINTER SPORTS FESTIVAL
Held in Moldavia's Câmpulung Moldovenesc on the last Sunday of January. While sports
are indeed the focus, they're mainly an excuse for revelry.
February
Ski resorts crowd up as school kids take their annual week long winter break. Else-
where, the winter freeze is still going strong, and many museums and attractions in
the countryside are closed or have only weekend hours.
