ENCHANTED WATER SPRINGS
Târgu Jiu's annual folk-music festival is held over the third weekend of the month.

If you're partial to blossoming trees and blooming flowers, this is the most beautiful
month of the year. Easter is the high point of the Orthodox calendar, and Easter fairs
and painted-egg festivals abound.
ST GEORGE DAYS FESTIVAL
Held in Sfântu Gheorghe (Transylvania) on the last weekend in April, this three-day fest-
ival honouring the church's patron saint is all about folk music, street food and nightly
concerts.
PAGEANT OF THE JUNI
Braşov's most colourful, biggest street festival begins in the first week after Easter, late in
April or early May.

Temperatures warm a bit in May, but expect periods of rain. Romanians tradition-
ally spend the Labour Day holiday (1 May) at the seashore, but it's still too cold to
swim. Birdwatching starts in the Danube Delta.

The second week in May brings headline jazz acts to Sibiu for the city's annual jazz fest-
