Banca Agricola

Banca Agricola is Piaţa Mare's most impressive building; it now houses
the town hall and tourist information centre.

The History Museum displays Palaeolithic Age
tools, ceramics, bronze, jewellery and life-sized home scenes, costumes and furniture.
Other sections hold guild exhibits, an armoury, Roman artefacts and a treasury.

Biserica Evanghelică
(Evangelical Church; Pieţa Huet; church tower adult/child 3/2 lei)
The Gothic Biserica
Evanghelică, built from 1300 to 1520, is partially scaffolded due to renovation but you
can still climb the church tower; ask for entry at Casa Luxemburg. Its 1772 organ features
a staggering 6002 pipes (the largest in southeast Europe). In summer, organ concerts (5
lei) are held every Wednesday (6pm) and Sunday (10pm). The tomb of Mihnea Vodă cel
Rău (Prince Mihnea the Bad), son of Vlad Ţepeş, is in a closed-off section behind the or-
gan (ask for entry). This prince was murdered in front of the church in 1510.

Pharmaceutical Museum

Housed in the Piaţa Mică pharmacy (opened in 1600), the Pharma-
ceutical Museum is a three-room collection packed with pills and powders, old micro-
scopes and scary medical instruments. Some exhibits highlight Samuel Hahnemann, a
founder of homeopathy in the 1770s (Romania was one of Europe's first countries to le-
gitimise the use of giving small doses of a disease in order to fight the disease itself).
