Sun) Inside the Clock Tower, the History Museum has small rooms that wind up to the
7th-floor lookout above the clock. On the 1st floor, don't miss the small exhibition on loc-
al hero and physicist Hermann Oberth; there are some English translations (as well as the
sketch of Oberth's 'space suit'). A couple of floors up you can see the clock's famed fig-
ures, as well as the clanking innards of the clock behind them.
Collection of Medieval Arms

collection of armoury has four rooms devoted to medieval helmets, shields, crossbows,
maces (aka 'whips for fight') and cannonballs. Somehow an illustration of Napoleon
made the cut too.

Church of the Dominican Monastery

(Biserica Mănăstirii) This 15th-century Gothic church, which was closed for renovation
at research time, became the Saxons' main Lutheran church in 1556. Classical, folk and
baroque concerts have been held here in the past. Hidden away behind it is a statue of
Vlad Ţepeş Offline map , showing the legend with a bewildered look and his trademark
circa-1981 porno moustache.
Continuing west towards Piaţa Cetăţii, you come to the site where Vlad Ţepeş was born
in 1431 and reputedly lived until the age of four. The pretty, all- renovated Casa Dracula
Offline map (Piaţa Cetăţii) is now a restaurant.
CHURCH
Breite Ancient Oak Tree Reserve
( 0265-506 024; www.breite.ro ) Escape the crowds and visit the enchanting Breite An-
cient Oak Tree Reserve, 2km out of town. Its 133 hectares boast 800-year-old oaks, with
circumferences of 400cm to 600cm. Ask at the Cultural Heritage Info Centre for direc-
tions.
