huge main floor and gain access to the upstairs VIP lounge for maximum exposure. Chart
hits and club classics are the mainstay here.
GAIETY THEATRE
( 01-677 1717;
www.gaietytheatre.com
; South King St)
The Gaiety's program of plays is strictly of
the fun-for-all-the-family type: West End hits, musicals, Christmas pantos and classic Irish
plays keep the more serious-minded away, but it leaves more room for those simply look-
ing to be entertained.
THEATRE
UKIYO
( 01-633 4071;
www.ukiyobar.com
; 7-9 Exchequer St; per hr €25; all city centre)
The basement rooms
of this trendy sake bar can fit up to 10 people each for a night of singalong fun from the
30,000-odd songs on the menu (in a variety of languages).
KARAOKE
LILLIE'S BORDELLO
( 01-679 9204;
www.lilliesbordello.ie
;
Adam Ct; admission €10-20; 11pm-3am)
The snootiest club in
town prides itself on being the venue of choice for whatever Cristal-swilling superstar is
in town. Not that you'll rub shoulders with them, as they'll be safely ensconced in the
ultra-VIP Jersey Lil's private members' bar. Take comfort though in having made it past
the club's selective door policy. Bad music, bad attitude.
CLUB
ANDREW'S LANE THEATRE
(ALT;
www.facebook.com/andrewslanetheatre
;
9-17 St Andrews Lane; 11pm-3am Thu-Sat)
A full-on club
venue that is popular with students and younger clubbers. The music is loud, fast and
overwhelming.
CLUB
BANKER'S
( 01-679 3697; 16 Trinity St; admission €8; 9-11pm Fri & Sat; all city centre)
The basement room
of this decent bar hosts two nights of comedy: the Craic Club on Fridays and the usually
excellent Stand Up at the Bankers on Saturday nights. There's decent talent on stage -
some of whom have made it onto TV.
