In-Depth Information
Many of the evening boat excursions (see Click here ) are tremendous fun, providing
liberal drinks, liberating music and lithe limbo dancers; a great way to spend an evening or
two.
Prop Club Beach Bar & Restaurant BAR
( Our Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort, Seahorse Rd, Port Lucaya; till late) The TV screens
attract fans of the big American sports games, but the dance floor takes pride of place for
either nights of entertainment or live music. Karaoke nights are de rigueur for the more
extroverted, and the glass walls lift up to expose a sand volleyball court.
Club XS NIGHTCLUB
(Les Fountains Plaza, Sunrise Hwy, Freeport; 9pm-late Wed-Sat) Local partiers swear
by this capacious new nightclub, where DJs spin techno and reggae beats inside while mu-
sic videos flash on a big screen on the patio. Crowds are young, fun and dressed to shake
their booties. If all that grinding makes you hungry, there's an on-site grill. East of Ranfurly
Circus.
Margaritaville Sandbar BAR
(Churchill Beach, Mather Town) It's tricky to find (ask a local), but this funky little beach
shack is an under-the-radar classic. Sand on the floor, cold Kalik, friendly patrons, waves
crashing a few yards away. Perfect.
GRAND BAHAMA FOR KIDS
Clean, orderly, laid-back Grand Bahama is one of the most family-friendly is-
lands in the Bahamas. Our Lucaya Reef Village (Our Lucaya Beach & Golf
Resort; Click here ) has a kids' club to entertain your little ones while you get
some 'mommy and daddy time,' as well as plenty of junior-sized pools and
playgrounds. Petting dolphins at UNEXSO's Dolphin Experience ( Click here )
will give school-age kids bragging rights among their friends for years to come.
Garden of the Groves ( Click here ) is also fun - little kids will love the rac-
coon habitat. For slightly older kids, a day of snorkeling, paddle-boating and
chowing down on burgers at Junkanoo Beach Club ( Click here ) or Paradise
Cove ( Click here ) is hard to beat. Closer to town, Lucaya Beach ( Click here )
has tons of kid-friendly water sports, from parasailing to banana boat rides. For
food, try feeding 'em cracked conch at Billy Joe's on the Beach ( Click here ) -
whether or not you tell them they're eating snail is up to you!
