Wandering Colonial Nassau
4 Many visitors to Nassau ( Click here ) never make it past the duty-free shops of Bay St.
Their loss. Downtown Nassau is a pink-and-white colonial jewel, with government build-
ings as ornate as wedding cakes, 18th-century forts complete with canons and dungeons, and
crumbling graveyards full of pirates and those who hunted them. Surveying the city from the
top of Fort Fincastle, you can almost hear the 'arrrg!' of notorious scourges like Blackbeard
and Calico Jack. Several interesting history museums illuminate the city's past and provide
helpful walking maps.
