In-Depth Information
but close enough for an easy afternoon trip. Sands are powdery, water's warm
and blue. What more could you want? It's a few miles west of Port Lucaya, so
you'll have to drive or take a cab here.
» William's Town Beach Also known as Island Seas Beach, this narrow strip
of sand is not known for its beauty, but for its nightlife. After dark, locals and
tourists alike pack in to tiny wooden beachfront bars like Bikini Bottom and the
Two-Dollar Bar (yep, all drinks are $2) to drink rum and shake their booties. It's
just west of Lucaya and Silver Point Beaches, though separated by a concrete
channel.
» Gold Rock Beach You'll see more raccoons and sea birds than people at this
gloriously empty stretch of golden sand, part of Lucayan National Park. Many
people call Gold Rock the island's most beautiful beach, and we wouldn't dis-
pute the claim. Park across the highway, pay your $3 entrance fee, and hike the
short trail down to the sand. Don't forget a towel, some bug spray and a picnic -
you'll want to stay a while. If you don't have your own wheels to get here, many
tour operators in town offer group excursions.
