with European tour groups, this hotel was designed for the package tourist with its cav-
ernous corridors, little finesse and a
Marie Celeste
atmosphere during the day. That said,
the rooms, which cascade in tiers down the mountain, are bright and spacious and they all
come with unmatchable views. Most open on to terraces where you can enjoy your own
private sunset and, for this, the hotel is a recommended choice.

Mövenpick runs this often fully booked hotel. It is an opulent choice although it plays
second fiddle to its sister hotel near the entrance to Petra. Most rooms have views over the
valley, but the windows are surprisingly small. There's a free daily shuttle bus to and from
Petra.

This hotel is out of the
town centre but compensates with views across Wadi Musa. Some rooms are either noisy
or cramped - ask to see a few options. Free tea and coffee are available. The hotel runs the

ant hotels in the area, though remote in every sense from the experience of Petra, services

Musa. The main road through Wadi Musa is dotted with grocery stores where you can buy
the necessaries for a picnic in Petra; there's also a supermarket next to Al-Anbat Hotel I,
slightly out of town on the road to 'Ain Musa. Some hotels can arrange snack-boxes with
a boiled egg, bread and tomato. A felafel sandwich travels well and makes a filling lunch.
