With the
Expenses by Manager
report design displayed, select
Convert to Template
from the
File
menu. The report design changes and should look as shown in Figure 3.17.

Now we will remove references to the
Expenses by Manager
report and replace them
with generic directions to make the use of the template easier.

In the
Explorer Bar
, mouse over the
Query Explorer
and select the
Queries
folder.

In the work area, click the
Expense_by_Manager
query to select it.
4.
In the
Properties
pane, change the
Name
property to
Query1
.
5.
In the
Explorer Bar
, mouse over the
Page Explorer
and select the
Report Pages
folder. The report page still shows “Expenses by Manager.”
6.
In the work area, click the
Expenses by Manager
page to select it.
7.
In the
Properties
pane, change the
Name
property to the following:
Change the Page Name to Add the Report Title

Double-click the page to return to the page design.
Now the ReportID should have a custom message too. First the item should be made
visible and then the default selection can be changed.
9.
From the toolbar, click the
Visual Aids
button to open the menu, and select
Show
Hidden Objects
if it does not already have a check mark next to it.
The text prompt is now displayed in the footer.
10.
In the work area, click the
Te x t P ro m p t
in the footer to select it.
11.
In the
Properties
pane, double-click the
Default Selections
property to open the
dialog box.
