4 ELEPHANT RIDE THROUGH THE HISTORIC CITY
Regally clad elephants carry sightseers around Ayuthaya's most famous temples
from a stable on Th Pa Thon, in the southern section of the old city. We set up
this program to get elephants off the streets as beggars and give them safe, leg-
al and easy work. It is a very beautiful city to see aboard an elephant, and in the
past, elephants were a common mode of transport.
