The current prototype system that has been partially implemented is
still in the testing stage. Presently, it is mainly used for teaching and
research. The implementation of this platform is a long-term process.
6.6 SUMMARY
In the field of medical treatment and health care, existing work
including projects, researches, software products, and standards, mainly
focuses on digitization for hospitals or medical institutions within
organizations. However, few efforts are directly geared toward patients,
their families, and other general users. With the rapid development of
information and communication technologies and the changing of
medical and health care service models, creating various public-
oriented health care service systems has become a growing trend. In
this chapter, we present such a system, i.e., Public-oriented Health
