the worst case can be four times slower than the one as generated by the
proposed method.
6.5.2 Implementation of PHISP
We have designed and constructed a medical and health care platform in
collaboration with many universities and medical institutions, such as
Peking University People's Hospital, Zhejiang University, Huazhong
University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University Medicine
School, and Shantou University Medical College. It has been used to
provide teaching, research, medical treatment, and health care services
for college students and teachers, researchers, medical professionals,
and ordinary people.
The platform is constructed using the national CNGI-CERNET2
backbone network, which is the test platform for the next generation
of Internet technology (i.e., IPv6) in China. By cooperating with the
central server, our medical platform can fully exploit the resources
and memory space in each network node in the IPv6 wired and
wireless network. The CNGI-CERNET2-based platform breaks the
function restriction of a traditional medical platform. By exploiting
the advantages of IPv6, the system can guarantee reliable and high-
speed data communications over wired and wireless networks, which
is one of the most effective means to solve the problems caused by the
current network technology of the medical industry.
The platform can also satisfy diverse user needs including the
medical and health care needs of ordinary people, and provide them
with various resources and services. For cerebral apoplexy, coronary
heart disease, and diabetes, we have set up several analysis models, and
diagnostic and decision-making systems, which can provide remote
medicalcare services. A large number of universities and institutes have
joined the CNGI-CERNET2 network in China. The platform can thus
provide convenient information communication and comprehensive,
up-to-date medical information for the users in all these universities and
institutes with the IPv6 network. In addition, it can meet the needs of an
online cooperative diagnosis and first-aid program for the hospitals
located in different places. Figure 6.6 shows the home page of our health
care platform.
