(a) the name to be protected;
(b) the name and address of the applicant;
(c) a product specification as referred to in paragraph 2;

single
document
summarising
the
product
specification
referred
to
in
paragraph 2.
Article 3 of Commission Regulation (EC) No 607/2009 provides that an
application for protection shall consist of the documents required under Arts 35
or 36 and an electronic copy of the product specification and the single
document. Annexes I and II to this Regulation set out models for an application
for protection, as well as the single document and Art 3 requires that the
application for protection shall comply with these.

2. Specification
Article 35(2) provides that the product specification 'shall enable interested
parties to verify the relevant conditions of production of the designation of
origin or geographical indication' and shall consist at least of the following
items in the language which appears in italics:

name
(a) the name to be protected;
Article 4(1) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 607/2009 provides that the
name to be protected shall be registered only in the language(s) used to describe
the product in question in the demarcated geographical area and Art 4(2)
requires that the name shall be registered with its original spelling(s).

description of the wine(s)
(b) a description of the wine(s):
(i) for wines with a designation of origin, its principal analytical and organoleptic
characteristics;
(ii) for wines with a geographical indication, its principal analytical characteristics
as well as an evaluation or indication of its organoleptic characteristics;
specific oenological practices
(c) where applicable, the specific oenological practices used to make the wine(s) as well
as the relevant restrictions on making the wine(s);
demarcation of the geographical area
(d) the demarcation of the geographical area concerned;
Article 5 of Commission Regulation (EC) No 607/2009 provides the area shall
be 'demarcated in a detailed, precise and unambiguous manner'.
