In-Depth Information
April
April is when canny travellers hit NZ: the ocean is swimmable and the weather still
mild, with nary a tourist or queue in sight. Easter equals pricey accommodation
everywhere.
Warbirds Over Wanaka
Held every second Easter in even-numbered years, Warbirds Over Wanaka
( www.warbirdsoverwanaka.com ) is an internationally renowned airshow set against rugged
Central Otago scenery. Heritage and iconic aircraft pull crazy manoeuvres for up to 50,000
spectators. Tally ho chaps, and BYO Biggles goggles.
Clyde Wine & Food Festival
Sleepy Clyde is well-known as the northern terminus of the Otago Central Rail Trail, but
the cool-climate pinots and rieslings of local vineyards are also damn fine. Keep an eye out
for Two Paddocks, Kiwi actor Sam Neill's vineyard. Held annually on Easter Sunday.
