When you install the spigot, take this into account. Just hold the spigot up to the side of the
bucket before you drill the hole so you can see if the placement will be acceptable to you. Too high
is going to be better than too low; you can always tilt the bucket to get the bokashi tea out, but you
can't move the hole up if it is drilled too low. Once you have aligned the spigot, you just have to
drill the hole using a spade bit or hole saw and install the spigot. Most spigots have a standard dia-
meter on their neck, such as one inch, which makes it easy to drill out with a correspondingly sized
drillbit.Becarefulwhenyouaredrillingtheholebecausefive-gallonbucketsarepronetocracking
aroundthedrillhole,andifthathappens,youwillhavetostartover.Makesuretoinstall therubber
gasket on the inside of the bucket; this will prevent any leaks (assuming that you sized your hole
properly). Then tighten the nut on the spigot, put the lid on the bucket, and you are good to go —
you can start fermenting food waste in your new bokashi bucket.
