BUS
Buses leave from Hwy E11 opposite the Cove Rotana Resort between 7am and 8pm. Ar-
riving buses are met by taxis for onward travel. Buses leave hourly from 7.30am to 9pm
and fares are Dh10 to Umm Al Quwain, Dh15 to Ajman and Dh25 to Sharjah and Dubai.
CAR & MOTORCYLE
RAK is linked to the other emirates via the slow coastal Hwy E11, called Sheikh Mo-
hammad bin Salem St within city limits, and the much faster Hwy E311. Hwy E18 goes
north to the Musandam Peninsula and south to the airport and the hot springs at Khatt.
TAXI
A seat in a shared taxi is Dh10 to Umm Al Quwain, Dh15 to Ajman, Dh20 to Sharjah and
Dh25 to Dubai.The main taxi stand is on Hwy E11 opposite the Cove Rotana Resort.

CROSSING INTO THE MUSANDAM PENINSULA
RAK is the jumping-off point for the magnificent Musandam Peninsula, an Omani enclave, via the Shams/Tibat
border post about 35km north of RAK City. Beyond the border await a dramatic coastal drive and the town of
Khasab, where you can catch dhow cruises and go snorkelling with dolphins.

won't need to obtain a separate visa for Oman. Everyone else must pay a Dh35 exit fee at the UAE border post in
Shams and OR5 (Dh50) upon entering Tibat.
If you're driving, bring a copy of the car registration and proof of insurance valid in Oman or obtain Omani in-
surance at the border (Dh100). If you're renting, make sure that you're permitted to take the car outside of the
UAE.
