APARTMENTS & HOUSES
A small but growing number of vacation rentals, primarily in Lima and Cuzco, attend to
midrange and top-end needs. Check www.vrbo.com and www.cyberrentals.com for list-
ings.
B&BS
In the more well-touristed cities of Arequipa, Cuzco and Lima, bed and breakfasts offer a
dollop of charm. These often inhabit vintage Spanish casonas (manses), some of which
date back to the colony. For B&B listings throughout Peru, see
www.bedandbreakfastworld.com .
HOSTALES, HOSPEDAJES & ALBERGUES
These are Peru's cheapest accommodations and generally have a handful of small rooms,
with a shared or private bathroom. In major cities, they will include hot showers; in more
rural and remote areas, they likely will not. Some places will include a very simple break-
fast in the rate. These are often independently or family-run.
HOTELS
This category can include everything from family-owned budget spots to design-con-
scious boutique inns to luxury outposts housed in former monasteries. These can be inde-
pendently operated or run by a regional or international chain. (Sheraton, Marriott, Liber-
tador, Orient-Express and Casa Andina are a few of the more of the widely recognized
hospitality companies operating in Peru.) Rooms, services and amenities vary widely de-
pending on the price category. Though some hotels boast star ratings, note that Peru does
not have a standardized ratings system.
