pendent reviews, as well as recommendations on the best places to stay. Best of all, you can book online.
LODGES
In the Amazon, most travelers stay in lodges - usually palm-thatched bungalows set
around a common outdoor area. Even at the top end, these are more rustic and offer fewer
amenities than their city counterparts. Expect units to be open to the elements, with mos-
quito screens separating guests from the great outdoors. Meals are generally served
family-style. If you have dietary issues, let the lodge know well in advance.
A Note about Prices
Prices in this guidebook are generally listed in Peruvian nuevos soles. However, many package lodgings and higher-
end hotels will only quote prices in US dollars; likewise for many travel agencies and tour operators. In these cases,
we have listed prices in US dollars.
Both currencies have experienced fluctuations in recent years, so expect many figures to be different from what
may be printed in the topic.
