relatively new, rustic-style lodge, 100km from Iquitos. It's a down-to-earth place, with 12
rooms containing private bathrooms and a relaxing common area, as well as walkways to
maximize appreciation of the surrounding wildlife. Otorongo is run by a former falconer
who can imitate an incredible number of bird sounds. The five-day option can include off-
the-beaten-path visits to nearby communities.

Approximately 130km upriver from Iquitos on the Río
Yarapa, this lodge is simply stunning. It has a huge and well-designed tropical biology
laboratory, powered by an expansive solar-panel system. Facilities are beautifully main-
tained and rooms are connected by a series of screened walkways. Eight huge bedrooms
with oversized private bathrooms are available and 16 comfortable rooms share a multi
tude of well-equipped bathrooms. The trip from Iquitos takes three to four hours. Recom-
mended.
