This lodge, 140km from Iquitos, has exclusive ac-
cess to the 2500-sq-km Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo reserve, an area of pristine jungle where a
record 93 species of mammal have been recorded. The 15 cabins are located 65km up an
Amazon tributary, built on high stilts and connected by walkways; half have private bath-

Marañón, this excellent lodge (the former Pacaya-Samiria Amazon Lodge) is past Nauta
on the outskirts of the Pacaya-Samiria reserve. The only lodge within the reserve buffer
zone, it can arrange overnight stays within the reserve. Rooms feature private showers and
porches with river views, and there is electricity in the evening.
