3.7. Observations of Supersonic Impact - Nanocrystalline
Aluminum Particles
To impact the powder specimens with substrate, a casing was designed to
deliver the powder into the substrate. The material selected for the casing was
delrin, because of its light weight, machinability, and low strength, to
minimize the effect of the casing on the impact. The outer dimension was
chosen such that the fit inside the barrel would be a slight clearance fit.
