Stuffed monkeys hang from the counter, chimps grin from photos and there's a gorilla
statue outside: this cosy cafe has not quite gone ape, but it has gone palm oil-free - mean-
ing you can tuck into your salad, rarebit or wrap, safe in the knowledge that no orangutan
has been harmed in the making of it. There's a gargantuan selection of teas available.

Tŷ Gwyn Hotel

old coaching inn oozes character from every one of its numerous exposed beams. The
menu is full of intriguing modern takes on age-old local ingredients (wood pigeon, slow-
braised goat with juniper, guinea fowl, lamb wrapped in Carmarthen ham). In the midst all
this meatiness, the separate vegetarian menu doesn't disappoint. Book ahead.

overlook the main street for an al fresco coffee and cake. The mains meander from Thail-
and to Morocco but linger mainly in Wales; it's a good fallback for when the other places
