tion just uphill from Mbeya Hotel and modern, well-appointed rooms. The more expensive
ones have Jacuzzi-style bathtubs, and many are apartment-style with a shared kitchen and
sitting room. There's a restaurant.
Peace of Mind Rest House

is as incongruous as its appearance - a columned, lime-coloured multistorey building - but
the modern rooms are good value for the price. All have one double bed, and there's a res-

good-value rooms in separate bungalows near the main building with small gardens and a

) This quiet mission-run place is in a small, enclosed compound where you can also
pitch a tent. Most rooms have bathrooms, and there's a restaurant (closed Sunday).
Karibuni is 3km southwest of the town centre and about 10 minutes on foot from the dalla-
dalla stop for transport into town. Watch for the signpost along the north side of the main
highway and about 500m west of the first junction coming from Dar es Salaam, from where
it's 300m further.
