Rooms have fan, air-con, hot water, minifridge and one double bed, and there's a restaur-
ant. From the bus stand, take a right onto Taifa Rd ('Double Rd') to the roundabout. At the
roundabout, go right onto Street No 8. Central City is down about 600m on your left.

This place (formerly Bandarini Hotel) is centrally located opposite Jamhuri Park. The ren-
ovated rooms with double beds are clean and rather atmospheric, with TV and hot water,
and a restaurant. Check out several rooms, as they do vary.
ELCT Mbuyukenda Tumaini Hostel

Tsh20,000/25,000; ) Rather faded overall, but the new rooms (all doubles) are nice,
and good value for the price. It's just southwest of Bombo Hospital, and diagonally oppos-
ite Katani House. Meals can be arranged with advance notice. Taxis charge Tsh5000 from
the bus stand.
Ocean Breeze Hotel

faded and no-frills but OK for the price. All have bathrooms and many, although not all,
have nets. It's just opposite (east of) the market, between Market St and Independence Ave,
and is one of the better budget choices in the town centre. There's no food.
Inn by the Sea

(r Tsh20,000; ) Rooms are drab, and solo female travellers may feel uncomfortable here,
but the setting directly overlooking the water is amenable. Lunch and dinner are available
at Raskazone Swim Club next door.
Raskazone Hotel
CAMPGROUND $
(camping US$5, s/d Tsh10,000/20,000; ) Currently the only place to pitch a tent near the
town centre, with camping permitted in a small, walled, unshaded garden. There are also
some basic rooms, and meals on order. It's in Ras Kazone, and signposted from Hospital
Rd.
