Most places can hook you up with wildlife drives, San cultural activities and the like. In-
teresting alternatives to staying in Ghanzi are the Dqãe Qare Game Farm ( Click here ) in
nearby D'kar and Grassland Safari Lodge ( Click here ) , 60km east.
There's a supermarket diagonally across the intersection from the Kalahari Arms Hotel

fun place to stop for a night or three, enjoying the boozy, friendly ambience and letting the

and bar. The rough access road is just passable to low-slung 2WD vehicles - use caution.
The campsite is located 6km southwest of Ghanzi.

( 659 6298; www.kalahariarmshotel.com ; Henry Jankie Dr; campsite per person P60,
s/d P620/710; ) This Ghanzi institution has modern (if slightly tired) rooms with
air-con and cable TV, though the campsite is cramped and can be noisy. The rooms in ron-
davels in the garden by the pool are nicest and cost the same as other accommodation. The
dining room at the Kalahari Arms is Ghanzi's only real restaurant. Although it's a bit
pricey (mains from P60), the menu has all the usual suspects of steak, chips and pasta, and
in Ghanzi you won't exactly be spoiled for choice.

Tautona Lodge $$
( 659 7499; www.tautonalodge.com ; campsite per person P100, s/d P595/780, chalets
from P700/860; ) This reasonable lodge is 5km northeast of Ghanzi, and has ex-
pansive grounds featuring two swimming pools and a watering hole that is frequented by
antelopes. Spacious rooms in Batswana-style thatched buildings have air-con and cable
