Cycling
Traffic-free routes and varied landscapes make the southwest one of the best cycling re-
gions in the country. Many of the paths are on former rail or tram lines and snake amid ex-
tinct mines or quarries.
Dartmoor has good routes; the DNPA sells a map (£13). Exmoor's mountain-bike trails
are graded, ski-run style, in Exmoor for Off-Road Cyclists (£10).
